Re: 1uz firing order An easy way to tell on every v8 i know is to look at the V configuration of the block and the cylinder that is furthurist forward is number one, on a 1uz this is the cylinder closest to the oil cap,the left side of the car veiwed from the rear, the firing order is the same as an older smallblock chev as in pre GEN3 days, thats how i remember anyway.
Re: 1uz firing order I just read your post again and it seems yours has two number four cylinders, he he, but i think your on the right track odd numbers on the left, evens on the right as veiwed from the rear,so if your looking at the engine its the opposite if you know what i mean. Do I just half the firing order so it becomes In terms of coil pairs? I would have thought that made sense, but hey, who knows. Re: 1uz firing order How are you running wasted spark, they are only single post coils, or are you running 8 coils and firing them in pairs, what ecu? You have to work out which pairs of cylinders fire at the same time, pull the plugs and check for top dead center but make sure it is the compresion stroke.

True 1 and 6 are at TDC at the same time but not compression stoke at the same time, i don't know if you can do the wasted spark thing on any engine or the cams have to have less overlap or something, has anybody done wasted spark on a 1uz before?
The farting and carrying on that you describe sounds like its igniting cylinders that arn't ready to be ignited.

Tuning concepts, methods, tips etc. I'm using an MS2 V3 running msextra gslender 2. Do I need any additional injector drivers or can I run semi-sequential on two standard drivers? If I can run it and its worthwhile doing, can anyone advise what settings I need to use? My loom is currently setup like the first pic in the link below but without 2Y and 2Z being connected. So looking at it I can use the standard injector drivers on the MS2 v3 board as I'm currently doing, then as I'm a 4cyl engine I would set it to 2 squirts simultaneous under Engine Constants which then halves my required fuel amount.
Does that mean my firing order has changed? If so I'll change it back to what it should be if it will effect the semi-sequential settings! Thanks very much Rob. Some setups respond better than other to timed injection so it's difficult to say how much improvement you'll see. And you want to pair the cylinders that are degrees apart like wasted spark.

One other question, if I try it and the settings aren't correct, could I damage anything or would it just run badly? As I have a friend with a similar setup but on an MX5 and he's running full sequential using the below settings, so I'm wondering if I could use these? Any thoughts please let me know. You would end up with different timing on 2 cylinders off by degrees.
That means it would be almost impossible to find the optimal timing and using semi-sequential would be meaningless.Axalta imron msds
And using sequential settings for a semi-sequential is likely to not be the best setup. Also, you can only use degrees for semi-sequential so the degree timing is the same as 0 degree which is not the same for full sequential. So unless you want to change the wiring and do some tests to find the best timing for your setup which would also mean using a timing table and not a fixed timing valueI'd say that using semi-sequential is not your best option.

This leads me to suspect I screwed up the ignition coil wiring. It's a waste-spark setup and I grouped the coils, Is this correct? I'm pretty sure 1 is firing at about the right time, although my timing light is super dodgy so it's hard to tell.
